Edith’s involvement with the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) has been instrumental in driving entrepreneurship and job creation across the continent. Her contributions were highlighted in the #Futuresreport21, showcasing how the AfCFTA serves as an engine for economic growth and opportunity in Africa. Edith’s insights and advocacy have played a crucial role in advancing the AfCFTA’s potential to unlock entrepreneurship and create jobs, driving sustainable development and prosperity.

As Vice Chair of The Independent Continental Youth Advisory Council on the AfCFTA, Edith spearheaded efforts to facilitate youth participation and mobilization around this transformative trade agreement. Her appointment in December 2021 underscored her expertise and dedication to advancing continental economic integration, leading the council for a period of one year before handing over to the new vice chair.

Edith’s impact extends beyond her leadership role, as she has shared her expertise and insights on the AfCFTA on platforms across Africa. From Senegal to Zimbabwe, she has advised business owners, politicians, and leaders on strategies to leverage the agreement for economic growth and development. Through her advocacy and commitment, Edith continues to champion the AfCFTA as a catalyst for entrepreneurship, job creation, and sustainable development across the continent.

Edith’s journey with the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) took her to the Africa Business Women and Youth Summit in Zanzibar, an experience she describes as both humbling and deeply honored. For a week, she engaged with Africans from diverse industries, countries, and backgrounds, all eager to harness the potential of the AfCFTA to shape the continent’s future.

During the summit, Edith had the privilege of speaking with Dr. Amany Asfour, the president of the Africa Business Council. Their conversation reaffirmed Edith’s belief in the importance of advocating for women and youth within the AfCFTA framework. Dr. Asfour’s commitment to defending and empowering women and youth through strategic initiatives for African nations left a profound impact on Edith.

As part of a panel discussion alongside fellow entrepreneur Cham Etienne Bama and other experts, Edith shared insights and advice on how women and youth in business can position themselves to maximize the opportunities presented by the AfCFTA. Together, they provided guidance and encouragement to empower aspiring entrepreneurs to seize the potential of this transformative trade agreement.
